Our periodontist is able to provide patients with effective and successful periodontal treatments that will help restore your gums to excellent health. Our office is state-of-the-art in terms of both technology and procedures used to help our patients get rid of their periodontal disease. Among the periodontal treatments our Syosset periodontist offers are: periodontal scaling and root planing, periodontal maintenance, cosmetic soft tissue grafting, bone grafting, pocket reduction surgery, sinus and ridge augmentation; extractions; crown lengthening; and tooth de-sensitizing treatments.
One of the more common services we provide is periodontal scaling and root planing. Our Syosset periodontist performs this treatment when there is a need for a deep gum cleaning. This procedure is performed using local anesthesia. The patient remains entirely comfortable while having this procedure. During the procedure the pockets between the gum and the tooth are cleaned out. Tartar, plaque and bacteria are all removed. The goal of this procedure is to clean out the deep pockets, and hopefully the pockets will then begin to heal and reduce in depth. Several months later the depths of the pockets will once again be measured. At that point, the periodontal scaling and root planing treatment may be repeated. If the treatment is not successful, other more advanced periodontal treatments may be needed to help make the gums healthier. However what is important to note is that you can almost always turn back periodontal disease and make your gums healthy again. If you would like an appointment to meet with Dr. Baine, contact our practice today.
Gum disease can be very serious. However, many people get gum disease and if you have it you are certainly not alone! Our Jericho periodontal expert, Dr. Warren Baine, can help you get rid of your gum disease once and for all.
At our practice, Warren Baine, DMD, we see patients with gum disease every day. Our practice is limited to the treatment of periodontics and dental implantology. Dr. Baine has been treating the periodontal needs of the Jericho community for more than 25 years. Our practice provides the highest quality of periodontal care in a relaxed setting. When you come to us for treatment of your gum disease, you can be sure that we are employing the very best procedures to help restore your gums to good health. Periodontal disease is often treated with a process called scaling and root planing. When there is periodontal disease, the space between the tooth and gums becomes filled with bacteria, plaque and tartar. This in turn irritates the surrounding gum tissues. Once the disease has progressed to a more advanced stage, and gone beyond gingivitis, a popular treatment option of our Jericho periodontal expert includes the process previously mentioned called scaling and root planing.
If our Jericho periodontal expert feels that scaling and root planing is not successfully treating the gum disease, bone surgery or other treatments may be recommended. Pocket reduction surgery (gingivectomy or flap surgery) may be recommended to gain access to the roots of the teeth in order to remove bacteria and tartar. This in turn will hopefully reduce the depth of the pockets that hold the bacteria and tartar, and put an end to the cycle of deeper and deeper pockets. The goal is to end the vicious cycle that is making the pockets grow deeper, and allow the pockets to finally reduce in size. This will also keep the infection from reaching the jaw bone, which can seriously weaken the jaw bone and lead to tooth loss. There are many things that can be done to treat the effects of gum disease, and our periodontal expert, Dr. Baine, will be able to see you and assess your individual case. If you would like to meet with Dr. Baine for a consultation regarding your gum problems, contact our office today for an appointment.
Our Brookville implant dentist, Warren Baine, DMD, has many patients that are seeking dental implants in their upper jaw, but we often find that they need to have the oral surgery procedure called a sinus lift. During this procedure, Dr. Baine will add bone in the area where dental implants will be placed. To make room for this bone graft, Dr. Baine will have to actually move your sinus membrane. The sinus lift procedure is frequently suggested for our patients who have lost bone mass or density in their upper jaw, due to gum disease or when their sinuses are too close to area intended for dental implants. Our Brookville implant dentist can perform this sinus augmentation, which allows many of our patients to have dental implants successfully rather than having to wear partial dentures.
Sinus Augmentation Surgery 11753
Our patients who have lost one or more teeth may experience bone loss at the site of their missing tooth or teeth. As a result, your gums and jawbone, in the area of the lost tooth, may have an unnatural indentation. When our patient has a dental implant placed in the site of the lost tooth, the indentation caused by the bone loss can cause the dental implant to appear too long when compared to neighboring teeth. Ridge augmentation surgery allows our Brookville implant dentist to place a bone graft in the indentation to fill in the missing bone. As a result of the ridge augmentation, you can recover the natural contour of your gums and jaw.
There are several reasons why bone grafting would need to be performed and our Brookville implant dentist is an expert in his field, and thoroughly explains the process and necessity to all our patients. Periodontal disease, mouth trauma, or badly fitting removable dentures can cause damage and bone grafting is done to reverse any bone loss. It is also used to extend the bone to allow proper implant placement. In some cases, our Brookville implant dentist, Dr. Baine will need to increase the bone in the sinus area for dental implant placement, or extend bone to improve the fit and comfort of a removable prosthesis. When a patient loses a tooth, as in an extraction, the surrounding bone collapses and bone grafting is used to preserve this bone for future implant placement or, simply, just to look better.
